LITRG press release: LITRG publishes coronavirus guidance on tax and related benefits

2 Apr 2020

The Low Incomes Tax Reform Group (LITRG) of the Chartered Institute of Taxation has published a new section of its website bringing together all of the Group’s tax and related benefit guidance relating to the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Our guidance covers topics that are within the areas of expertise of our team of technical experts.

Our websites, while aimed primarily at those on lower incomes and unable to pay for tax advice, are widely used by people across the spectrum, including other tax professionals and third sector advisers. In 2019, there were just over 5.5 million visitors across the Group’s websites.

All media outlets are encouraged both to publicise the availability of the guidance to their readers / viewers / listeners and to draw on the guidance in their own work.

The main COVID-19 contents page on the LITRG website is here. Guidance currently on the site includes:

Guidance for employers

Guidance for employees

  • Illness or self-isolation
  • Work changes

Guidance for the self-employed

Guidance for individuals

Guidance for families

Other guidance

We are working hard to ensure this guidance remains up to date – however those using it should bear in mind that things may change on a daily basis as the Government responds to the ongoing situation.

The GOV.UK website has the latest information about the Government’s response to coronavirus including the most up to date guidance about symptoms, steps to take to protect yourself or check if you need medical help as well as guidance individuals, employers and businesses.
