Welcome to the Membership and Events section of the CIOT website
CIOT Membership is now approaching 18,000 members.
Chartered Tax Adviser status represents the highest level of UK tax knowledge. You may register as a CTA, pay your annual subscription, investigate CPD and other obligations and register your firm for Anti-Money Laundering Compliance, if applicable.
As an existing CIOT member, you already receive great benefits but you can get access to an additional collection of benefits that are only available to ATT members by becoming a Joint Member of the ATT.
Candidates for Fellowship will already have proved their technical competence in UK taxation, either by successfully passing the CTA examination or through their contribution to the profession over a number of years.
Welcome to the Branch Network of the Chartered Institute of Taxation
Working as a self-employed Chartered Tax Adviser may benefit those who have a number of personal commitments as it allows you more freedom in your work schedule and the opportunity to take on less work if you are busy. Many of the Institute's 17,000 members are self-employed.
The Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017 (known as Money Laundering Regulations (MLR) 2017) create new obligations for tax practitioners. If you are a principal in a firm of auditors, external accountants, insolvency practitioners or tax advisers you will need to ensure you are supervised by a supervisory authority to be monitored for compliance with the money laundering legislation.
CIOT members have been generously donating to the following independent tax charities with their annual membership subscriptions for more than 10 years.
