Meet the London Branch Committee

Anish Patel

Anish is the London Branch Chair. Anish first became involved in the branch in 2020, after being approached by the former chair of the London branch. He has shadowed the chair for a number of months, which has allowed him to gain an understanding of the role the branch has played in assisting tax professionals to network and further their technical knowledge. Anish is a Consultant at Deloitte, specialising in employment taxes. Anish advises across a broad range of employment tax issues from a UK perspective.

Reshma Johar

Reshma is a Tax Consultant at Carter Backer Winter LLP. Reshma considers herself to be a generalist – her knowledge and experience spread across a range of direct taxes. Her particular interest is in OMBs and private client taxes. Reshma has the ability to unravel the technicalities of guidance and legislation to clearly explain and advise on what they really mean for practitioners and clients.

Hannah Hurley

Hannah volunteered for the London branch committee in 2019, having enjoyed the seminars organised by the branch whilst studying for the CTA. Hannah is a qualified accountant and chartered tax adviser within the award-winning corporate tax department at Blick Rothenberg, with a particular interest in reconstructions and owner-managed business. She has previous experience in audit and strategy consulting, having graduated from the University of Oxford in 2014.

Debra Blacklock

After attending branch events for many years, Debra felt it was time to get more involved so recently joined the London branch committee. Debra is a Senior Tax Manager at Frank Hirth. Debra has experience of a broad range of UK personal tax issues and advises both UK and non-domiciled high net worth individuals on all aspects of their UK taxation position. Debra’s focus centres on pre-arrival planning, remittance planning and residency and domicile issues.

Gabrielle Donald

Gabby is a Financial Services Indirect Tax Director at PwC. Gabby has 10 years’ experience advising on indirect tax matters. She specialises in providing practical advice on indirect tax issues affecting financial services businesses

Robert Woodward

Rob joined the London Branch Committee in 2022 and has been volunteering for CIOT since 2018 when he joined the Employment Tax Technical Committee. Rob has also previously presented at the London Branch Employment Tax Conferences and contributed articles to the institute's Tax Adviser and Employment Tax Voice publications. Rob is an Associate Director in BDO’s Global Employer Services team with twenty years’ experience of advising employers on matters such as employment status, off-payroll working, furlough grants, termination payments, internationally mobile employees, HMRC enquiries and employee expenses and benefits. Rob’s clients include organisations in the private, public and not for profit sectors. As well as being a member of the CIOT, Rob is also a fellow of the ATT.
