Helping to improve HMRC manuals – a reminder that HMRC wants your feedback

10 Jun 2022

A reminder that HMRC would like your feedback to help them improve the content of their manuals published on GOV.UK.

In Agent Update 91 (December 2021) and Agent Update 85 (June 2021), HMRC signposted the three routes to providing feedback on their manuals.

The text from Agent Update 91 is reproduced below.

The first two routes allow for anonymous feedback. The third route, via the ‘Contact’ link at the very bottom of each manual page and then the link to the ‘GOV.UK form’, means that you can receive a response to your feedback. Detailed technical queries are directed to HMRC subject matter experts for analysis and to provide a response if you have asked for one and provided your contact details.

Feedback on HMRC manuals

We’d like you to help us improve the content of our manuals published on GOV.UK.

Thank you for your help so far and also for telling us where pages have been useful. These balanced views mean we can differentiate between what’s working and what needs our attention. We’d really like your feedback comments so we can better understand issues with the content and how we can improve it.

Please use one of the following feedback routes, available in the footer of each manual page, to share concerns or suggested improvements for a page and provide the detail we need to act on it.

  1. ‘Report a problem with this page’ to provide anonymous feedback comments
  2. ‘Is this page useful? Yes or No’ to anonymously rate the page
  3. ‘Contact’ link to use the gov.uk form to provide feedback and get a reply.

The first route is quick, easy to use and more timely. It sends your feedback directly to our HMRC Manuals team.

The second route now receives almost 3 times as many responses as it did before we started raising awareness.

The third route is where your feedback is received by a central gov.uk team and is passed to our HMRC Manuals team to respond.

Whichever route you choose, we progress every single item of manuals feedback to a resolution, even for the anonymous routes where we cannot provide a response.
