Exporters: HMRC encouraging exporters to subscribe to the CDS prior to the closure of CHIEF

HMRC has contacted the Joint Customs Consultative Committee stakeholders to confirm that they have emailed UK exporters that are still reporting exports via the Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight (CHIEF) system, to encourage them to subscribe to the Customs Declaration Service (CDS) due to the closure of CHIEF on 30 March 2024. All export must be routed via CDS after the closure.

HMRC has provided us with a copy of the email that has been recently issued to all non-subscribed export declarants to assist agents when discussing this topic with affected clients.
