Eat out to help out scheme

27 Jul 2020

On 8 July the Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak announced the eat out to help out scheme. Further information on the scheme, including promotional material and how to register, can be found from this collections page on GOV.UK

On 27 July the government published a short briefing pack aimed at agents with clients who may be eligible to benefit from the scheme.

Like the Self-employment Income Support Scheme, agents will not be able to register or make claims on behalf of their clients. The pack explains that this is because designing a scheme that enabled agents to apply on behalf of clients would have taken substantially longer to deliver, at a time when speed is the priority. However, agents can help in explaining the scheme to clients, making sure they have all the necessary documents and details ready to register and make a claim, and ensuring they understand how to claim.

The briefing pack also provides links to guidance and webinars on GOV.UK and YouTube.
