Welcome to the East Midlands Branch of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and Association of Taxation Technicians.

Welcome from your Branch Chair, Dipti Thakrar

The East Midlands Branch is a vibrant part of the CIOT/ATT Branch Network situated in the centre of the UK which provides a wealth of events designed for you - whether you be a general practitioner, a tax specialist, a new tax professional or a member of the public even.  Everyone is welcome! 

Our programme covers a broad mix of content, both technical and non-technical, so that it meets the needs and challenges of today’s professional in an ever-changing commercial environment. 

I am also keen to maintain and foster links with other professional bodies across the region in order to raise the profile of your Branch and to ensure that we continue to lead the conversation on all the topical tax issues of the day.   

We have an enthusiastic committee who are always looking at new ways of how the Branch can best serve members, students and non-members alike so that your Branch remains relevant, engaging, forward-looking and fit for purpose for the future.

Dipti Thakrar

East Midlands Branch Vice Chair I am experienced Head of Group Tax with a demonstrated history of working in industry. I have an accounting qualification (FCA with ICAEW) and a UK tax qualification (CTA from CIOT). I am highly skilled in covering topics like Transfer Pricing, UK Tax Computation reviews and tax accounting, Understanding International Tax issues, PE compliance and others. I am a CPD freelance tutor where I teach tax courses sporadically throughout the year. I chair the London TP Industry group which is a forum for in-house TP practitioners to come together and share best practices. For Women In Tax (not for profit), I am the Vice Chair on the London Branch and I Chair the East Midlands Branch. I volunteer with my local Branch to give back to the local community and my profession. Set up collaborations where people are connected and continue to experience their membership with others locally. Encourage new members/students to join and attend events; informal mentoring where possible.

East Midlands Branch Committee - NTP Representative I am involved with the branch as I wish to keep the community going. I believe a strong presence encourages and assists learning . I head up the accounts process at Page Kirk specialising in Doctors and Dentists. My aim is to understand businesses and assist them in growing, planning and producing a set of accounts which reflect the activity of the previous year, alongside enabling them to understand the figures.

East Midlands Branch Committee - ATT Representative I have been involved with the East Midlands branch for many years and have previously held the positions of Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary and Technical Officer. I currently work for Wren Professional Services Ltd and head up the tax & payroll team.

Primrose Gwata

I’m an Assistant Tax Manager and Chartered Accountant. I work in general practice and primarily do Personal Tax, employment taxes and Corporate Tax (including R&D). I volunteer with my local Branch to get more involved in tax issues in my branch, be resourceful, learn more and contribute to the valuable knowledge within our CIOT branch; as well as support branch events to bring more CIOT students, in both practice and industry, to have a strong and supportive network and body which is actively involved with members and the communities within.

Assist small business owners with their tax and accounting issues proactively and relieve business owner of stress of keeping their records and preparing their end of year returns. I also assist business owners and individuals with proactive tax planning and business advise. Practice area is owner managed businesses.
