CHIEF training service closure

HMRC have contacted the CIOT and other stakeholders in respect of the closure of the CHIEF training service:

The free CHIEF training service provided for trader, declarants and intermediaries is closing from 10 am on 26 July 2022.

How to request continued access

We recognise some traders may still need to use the CHIEF training service while they complete their move to the Customs Declaration Service.

If service users feel they have an exceptional need to use the CHIEF Training Service, they can make an application to the AMT Trade Partner Readiness mailbox - [email protected]. Please remember to use the subject line ‘CHIEF TRAINING SERVICE’ and include in the request when they plan to move to the Customs Declaration Service.

Requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Those using the service should use it to submit declarations in a test environment and to develop an understanding of submission obligations before going into live. It should not be used to test how to reduce financial liabilities by generating Duty & VAT estimates on unsubmitted declarations. 

Move now to the Customs Declaration Service

We strongly urge businesses to move over to the Customs Declaration Service now to ensure they are ready to make import declarations from 1 October 2022.
