Cancelling your Exam Entry

We recognise that CTA students tend to lead busy lives, in many cases combining studies with full-time tax careers. Therefore, you may not be able to sit the exam you have entered for. Here you will find more information on how to change or cancel your exam entry.

While we can advise you on these policies, we cannot accept requests to change or cancel an exam entry over the phone or by email.

CANCEL YOUR EXAM ENTRY

If you can no longer sit your exam, you can request to cancel your exam entry.

You are eligible for a refund if your request to cancel your exam entry has been made up to and including the last day of normal exam entry (end of February for May/end of August for November), or 14 days after the date you entered for the exam, whichever date is later.

More detail is provided below on how to apply, and any admin fees.

If your employer is paying for your exam entry, the invoice must be paid before your employer can be refunded.

A refund will be issued to you within 20 working days of when you apply for the refund.  If a refund is confirmed, this will be returned to the original payment method.

The £107 late entry fee is not refundable.

Please note that if you cancel an exam (with or without refund) or are unable to attend on the day, your application will not be transferred automatically to the next exam session and you must apply again as normal for any future sessions.

Complete the online form to cancel your exam.

CHANGE YOUR EXAM ENTRY

You may request to change your exam entry (to a different paper), subject to an admin fee, up to the closing date for the exam session you have entered for. To request a change of paper you need to email [email protected].
