24 May 2024Finance Bill (No.2) 2024 is now an Act. The Bill completed its public bill committee stage in a single session on Tuesday 21 May, with MPs taking just 90 minutes to debate and agree clauses on Stamp Duty Land Tax, Transfer of Assets Abroad and other aspects of the tax system. Following the calling of an election the Bill was rushed through its remaining stages, with a minimal Commons third reading debate on Thursday 23 May and a similarly brief Lords debate on Friday 24 May, gaining Royal Assent the same day.
