#notKili2020 - a new challenge with altitude!

28 May 2020

Are you frustrated by the current social distancing and inability to travel far? Do you want to do something positive? How about joining the #notKili2020 challenge in aid of the tax charities? The charities’ #Tax2020Kili sponsored challenge to ascend Mount Kilimanjaro is being postponed to September 2021, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so we have set an alternative free UK challenge in aid of the tax charities, whose funds have been hit by cancellation of events in the pandemic, while they focus on helping more people needing to do returns and make claims from the government.

The challenge involves simulating the effort of climbing Kilimanjaro (from the park gate to the summit – almost 3,600m), by:

Walk, run or skip the distance of the trek round the house or outside - around 100,000 steps;

Climbing your own stairs while you #StayAtHome (or up a local hill while we can go outside), so around 1,200 flights of stairs per FitBit;

  • Walk, run or skip the distance of the trek round the house or outside - around 100,000 steps;
  • Do both!
  • Or make up your own challenge, but #StaySafe.

Each participant can do the challenge as they like and over whatever period is a challenge for them (depending on circumstances) but must finish it before 17 September 2020 – the date we were due to fly to Tanzania.

You can find more details about the challenge and register to join in here

There is a group sponsorship page on virginmoneygiving (or you can set up your own page) in aid of Bridge the Gap. You can either make a one off donation yourself or ask other people to sponsor you. We really hope some of you could join in. Any queries, email Tina Riches at [email protected].
