Volunteer with the CIOT

Two people sit at a table outside discussing local international tax events.

The CIOT is the leading professional body for tax professionals in the UK, dealing with all aspects of taxation. To achieve our charitable objects, we need to draw on the wide range of experience and skills of our members and we are also keen to involve students in our Branch Network. It’s never too early or late in your career to think about volunteering. There are a range of opportunities to suit different skills and experience. Whatever your area of interest or expertise we may have something for you.

We currently have over 700 volunteers.

Volunteering with the CIOT not only helps us, but it can also provide a great way for you to:

  • Enhance and develop new skills
  • Gain valuable experience for your CV
  • Contribute to the wider profession
  • Build your personal and professional networks
  • Potential to work with the influencers within the field of tax
  • Receive an invite to our annual thank you reception for volunteers

What do volunteers do?

Volunteers contribute to CIOT across the full range of our activities for example, tax technical, membership & branches, standards, finance and education. Volunteers sign up to a volunteer agreement and must be committed to attend meetings regularly.

CIOT and ATT are seeking an Independent Chair for our Joint Audit and Risk Committee and an Independent Chair for the Joint EDI Committee at CIOT and ATT. Find out more about these roles

If you are interested in volunteering for the CIOT please visit our Prospective Volunteer page to learn more about the volunteering opportunities available, how to apply and what to expect once your expression of interest has been submitted.

If you are an Existing Volunteer and have come to this page to find some guidance, a form or details of a policy or agreement with CIOT about your volunteering, we hope you will find all the information you need on the existing volunteer page.
