Assessments

Once you have completed each module, you can choose when to take the assessment in the Tolley online assessment centre. The assessment will comprise of 20 objective test questions (in the following formats: multiple choice, multiple response, pick from a list and true or false). You will have an hour to answer them. After an hour the assessment will automatically end. You must answer 15 questions correctly to pass (out of 20).

The introductory module - Understanding tax technology and its impact: an overview will not be assessed. The other 10 remaining modules will be (you will be assessed on nine).

Assessment results

You will get your assessment result via an on-screen message as soon as you finish the assessment. The result will include the mark and the percentage, with a Pass/Fail. Once you pass all the required modules you will be sent an email from CIOT with details on how to claim your certificate.

Be sure you are ready to take each assessment and take the practice first. You will have four attempts per assessment only.

Reasonable adjustments

Reasonable adjustments will be permitted. If this is applicable to you, please complete the application form here. You will need to provide evidence.  When an application has been approved by CIOT we will liaise with Tolley to ensure that your account reflects this. For example, when you take an assessment, the extra time will be automatically applied. Study materials will be written and formatted in such a way as to ensure compatibility with assistive technology such as screen readers.
