Student Bursary information

TABF is managed by Trustees appointed by the Master of the Worshipful Company of Tax Advisers (a City of London Livery Company) whose objectives are primarily to enhance the standing of the profession of tax advisers and to support and fund benevolent and charitable causes.

Student Bursaries

TABF provides financial assistance in the form of grants and interest free loan grants for students of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) and the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) who cannot afford to pay, in full or in part, student registration fees, exam fees and training course fees. Successful loan grant applicants are expected to pay back any bursary awarded as soon as practical to enable TABF to help more students in the future.

Eligible persons

Applicants must be resident and ordinarily resident in the EU, EEA and Switzerland and committed to preparation for CIOT or ATT examinations and sitting the examinations.

Funds available

A maximum of £1,500 for each successful applicant over a 12 month period may be paid against supplier invoices for student registration and examination fees, training courses (distance learning, classroom and revision), books and other materials necessary or relevant for studying for the Chartered Tax Adviser or Taxation Technician qualifications.

Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate a proven need for financial assistance in paying for registration fees, exam fees, course fees and training materials.

Applications

Applicants should complete the ‘Application for Assistance Form’ and send it to the Almoner who is responsible for processing the applications and obtaining any further details from the applicants. The Almoner submits completed application forms to the TABF Trustees together with his report. The Trustees hold quarterly meetings to consider applications individually and all applications aretreated in the utmost confidence.
