Message from HMRC – 7 January 2020:
Earlier today we experienced a technical issue which affected our digital services. As a result, the MTD service was unavailable for a period of time.
As the incident occurred on a VAT filing day (7 January) we advise that any customers who were unable to file today try again tomorrow. Customers, or those acting on their behalf, will not receive a penalty for filing their return tomorrow.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused to those customers concerned.
