Launch of a new House of Commons Treasury Committee inquiry
Tax reform after the pandemic
The Government has gone to unprecedented lengths to keep the UK economy going and people in work during the coronavirus crisis. But this has come at a cost and difficult choices lie ahead to ensure a smooth long-term fiscal recovery, especially in the tax system. The Treasury Committee is launching an inquiry to find out what the problems are within our tax system, and to identify areas that government should focus on post-pandemic.
What do you think the committee should focus on?
On Friday 17 July 2020 Treasury Committee chair Rt Hon Mel Stride set out the terms of reference of the committee’s new inquiry. He and fellow committee member Angela Eagle are interviewed by CIOT President Glyn Fullelove about what they want the inquiry to achieve and attendees have the opportunity to put their own questions and make suggestions for areas for the committee to look at, via sli.do.
