Exchange of information and protection of taxpayer rights

This webinar will focus on the case law of the European Courts regarding the use and sharing of information about taxpayers, focusing on the following issues:
- The use of information obtained by the taxpayer and the right to remain silent
- The use and exchange of illegally obtained information
- Exchange of information without the knowledge of the taxpayer concerned
- The application of standards to the inter-continental exchange of information
The fee for this event is £20 (free for International Tax Affiliates).
Entry is open to ADIT students and holders, and anyone else who is interested in international tax.
About the speaker
Dr Katerina Perrou is a Post-Doctoral Researcher and Assistant Lecturer in Tax Law at the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Katerina completed her PhD on “Taxpayer Participation in Tax Treaty Dispute Resolution” at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of London, under the supervision of Philip Baker. The thesis was published in 2014 as volume 28 of the IBFD Doctoral Series.
In 2016-2018 Katerina joined the IBFD in Amsterdam as postdoctoral research fellow on tax treaty Issues. In 2009 she was awarded the ADIT qualification from the CIOT.
Katerina is a visiting lecturer at Queen Mary University of London; the University of Amsterdam; and Friedrich-Alexander University of Nuremberg. She has published numerous articles and contributions on issues of international and EU tax law (a list is available at www.kperrou-ontax.com), and is the Secretary General of the Greek branch of IFA.
Katerina currently serves as Legal Counsel to the Governor of the Greek Independent Authority for Public Revenue.
