Exam4 download and technical support

The following guidance is designed to assist candidates downloading and running Exam4, for use in on-screen ADIT exams during the June 2018 exam session.

To use Exam4, you must have:

  • A laptop;
  • YOUR OWN account on the laptop; and
  • FULL administrative rights

Click here to download Exam4 for MacOS 10.9.5 (Mavericks) and higher. Alternatively, click here to download Exam4 for Windows 10, 8.1 or 7.


Troubleshooting

Violation 825IS (Windows)

Usually this is due to your account not having full administrative rights to the computer, as is common with work laptops. Try to get your account upgraded to 'Administrator', or use a personal laptop with full rights.

  • Uninstall Exam4.
  • Re-download and re-install.

If you run AVG Basic or Webroot Secure Anywhere, try uninstalling and replacing with Microsoft Security Essentials or some other brand of anti-virus software.

'Exam4 can't be installed' (MacOS / Windows)

Your security software might be blocking the installation, or in rare cases your download may have been corrupted. In either case, Exam4 must be uninstalled manually then re-installed, as follows:

MacOS

  • Delete the Exam4 icon from the desktop.
  • Go to Applications, and drag the Exam4 app to the trash.
  • Open Finder > Go > Downloads.
  • Delete the Exam4 installer file ONLY (this file ends in .dmg). DO NOT delete the Exam4 folder in your Documents folder, as you are responsible for maintaining exam files and backups on behalf of your institution.
  • Re-download and re-install Exam4.

Windows

  • Go to C:\Program Files\Extegrity.
  • Delete the Exam4 folder.
  • Delete any Exam4 icons on your desktop or Start menu, including any of the download icons (these look like a clamp) and any red e icons.
  • Re-download and re-install Exam4.

Violation 500 or 501 (Windows)

Exam4 has detected the 'VMWare' application on your computer. You will need to remove this software from your computer in order to pass the Security Check.

  • Goto Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.
  • Remove VMWare, and run Exam4 again.

There may be additional components of VMWare left on your computer which could still give the error result and require you to manually search and remove.

  • The web browser which you used to download Exam4 (e.g. 'Internet Explorer', 'Chrome' or 'Safari');
  • Details of any security or anti-virus software used; and
  • A detailed description of the issue you need help with.
