Article by Mark Saunders, director, Deloitte & Touche. This article appeared in the June 2005 issue of Tax Adviser. In his Budget, Gordon Brown told us that he wanted to cut the regulatory burden on companies. Fantastic, I dreamt, he is going to scrap Form 42 – the return companies use to report share-related benefits. Doing so would reduce the heartache for many companies. Alas no – all 16 pages of the form are still very much with us. However, the Inland Revenue has made some useful changes this year and the future is looking brighter.
