Readers will have noticed the series of papers entitled ‘Attacking complexity: quick wins for tax simplification’. In the last year the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) has published four papers on personal tax, corporate tax, indirect tax and employment taxation, all aiming to identify practical and feasible solutions to unnecessary complexity in the tax system. The papers have been reviewed in articles in Tax Adviser in August and December 2001, March 2002, and now May 2002.
