iXBRL – problems with HMRC package

Several members have recently reported to the CIOT various problems with viewing and printing accounts in HMRC’s free iXBRL online filing product. We have raised these issues with HMRC who have informed us that a new version of the product will be available for download from 7am tomorrow, Tuesday 10 January 2012, which should resolve the issues.

HMRC have informed us that the message on their service pages will state:

  • The HMRC online filing product is now available to download. The full view and print functionality will now work correctly on forms downloaded from today.
  • If you have downloaded the software since September 2011 but have not yet filed, you should download it again in order to have the full view and print functionality.
  • If you have downloaded the software since September 2011 and have already filed, you will not now be able to view or print the whole return in one go. If you need to make a copy, please click on the “Print” button at the top of each page to print every page as you proceed through the form”. If those screen prints are not sufficient for your needs please contact Online Service Helpdesk.

Adobe X software

A few members using Adobe X software have also reported to us problems with opening the iXBRL online filing product, crashing their computer, and with difficulties with HMRC online VAT returns. HMRC understand that the latest versions of their package should work with Adobe X; however if any members continue to have problems with either HMRC’s iXBRL or VAT packages please email Tina Riches at triches@ciot.org.uk so that we can take the issue up again with HMRC.
