HMRC PAYE update (RTI, BPT, Toolkits and Employer Helpbooks)

HMRC have provided a further informal update on PAYE related matters for sharing. The update covers RTI, Basic PAYE Tools, Toolkits and amendments to the online versions of the Employer Handbooks.

Improving the operation of PAYE – Real Time Information

HMRC has now published the Tax Information and Impact Note covering Real Time Information (RTI): improving the operation of PAYE.

Basic PAYE Tools (BPT)

The latest version of the Basic PAYE Tools has now been published on our website. BPT is a computer software package provided by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) to help you run your payroll throughout the year.

Toolkits to help minimise common errors

Updated toolkits covering Expenses and Benefits from Employment and National Insurance Contributions and Statutory Payments are now available on our website. The toolkits provide guidance on areas of error that HMRC frequently see in returns and set out the steps that you can take to reduce those errors.

Amendments to the online versions of the Employer Helpbooks

The following amendments have been made to the helpbooks on our website;

E12 (2012) PAYE and NICs rates and limits for 2012-13
The Contracted-out National Insurance contribution table on page 5 has been amended to remove categories F, G & S which are obsolete from 6 April 2012.

E13 (2012) Day-to-day payroll
The 'Employer NIC rebate example' in the right hand column on page 12 has been amended.
