HMRC PAYE update (RTI, webinars and YouTube)

HMRC have provided a further informal update on PAYE related matters for sharing. The update covers RTI: P45, webinars and HMRC on YouTube.

Real Time Information – P45

Following consultation about Real Time Information (RTI), we have withdrawn plans to introduce a leaver statement for employers in RTI to use in place of the P45 when employees move jobs. Please see the Press Release P45 to stay

New HMRC webinars

We have published two webinars:

  1. Real Time Information – an overview’ - a 15 minute video looking at the RTI timetable, main day-to-day changes employers will see and what help and support is available. View it at Real Time Information

  2. Accurate employee Information matters – it can save time and money’ - an 11 minute look at examples and the implications of inaccurate employee information plus top tips on how to avoid this and make sure that employee information is recorded accurately. View it at Accurate employee information matters

HMRC appears on YouTube!

We have launched a new a new online video on YouTube to help employers reduce the problems caused by inaccurate employee data.

It looks at how inaccurate employer returns can affect employees, employers and HMRC, and offers basic advice on how employers can help reduce errors.

We receive millions of employer returns each year (for example P35s, P14s, P45s and P46s). While the vast majority of the employee data is correct, in some cases dummy, incomplete or incorrect information is included, making it more difficult for us to identify the individuals involved – our Press Release Taxman urges employers to ditch ‘A N Other’ of 17 October 2011 gives examples.
