Following the publication of the Government’s White Paper, ‘Security in Retirement: towards a new pensions system’, the Department for Work and Pensions is carrying out a consultation exercise to seek views from as wide a range of stakeholders as possible. This includes the views of small businesses.
As part of the consultation, DWP would like to invite representatives from a number of small businesses to a seminar to hear their views on the proposals for personal accounts: a new low-cost saving scheme, put forward in the White Paper.

The seminar will contain short presentations on the White Paper proposals and how the proposals will affect employers. It will be an opportunity for DWP to seek views on and reactions to the proposals and to gain an insight into:

  • how smaller businesses feel that the design of personal accounts will impact on them; and
  • any specific issues or concerns.

The event will be held in central London on Wednesday 18 October. The DWP will be able to reimburse reasonable travel costs for attendees.

The DWP are looking for representatives from small businesses who would be keen to attend to share their views on the White Paper proposals. Ideally, they are looking for representatives from a range of industries, across various geographical locations and from businesses employing up to 50 staff.

If any CIOT members would like to attend the event they should send:
 contact name;
 company name and address;
 telephone number;
 email address; and
 business type
