The Confédération Fiscale Europeénne(CFE) wishes to recruit a Chief Executive, based in its Brussels office. The CFE, with member bodies in 23 European countries, which together represent more than 160,000 tax advisers, wishes to recruit a dynamic person to assist the Board in developing the structure and activities of the CFE. The Board believes that such a person can assist in raising the profile of the CFE so that it can more successfully represent its members in Europe - in relation to both technical tax and professional/regulatory issues - and participate more fully in the debate relating to major issues of importance in the development of taxation policy and practice within the European Union.
This appointment directly follows on from the adoption of an ambitious strategic business plan by the CFE General Assembly in September in Dublin. The successful candidate will be required to work closely with the President and Executive Board of the CFE with a view to achieving the objectives set out in the strategic plan, including the identification and development of initiatives to generate more income for the organisation - beyond the subscription income from members which the CFE almost exclusively relies on at present to fund its expanding range of activities.
The successful candidate will ideally have a good understanding of the European Union and of the tax profession.
He/she must be fluent in at least English and French and must have a proven track record in a managerial position.
However, the person does not necessarily have to be a European tax specialist, because his/her focus will be more on building up the commercial viability of the organisation to enable it to be better able to meet both the requirements of the member organisations and the demands for resources that will be inevitable if the ambitious goals of the strategic plan are to be met.
The intention is that this position will be a fulltime appointment, requiring the successful candidate to be present and working in Brussels for at least 3 days a week. However, the CFE can be flexible if the right candidate is identified and circumstances so dictate. The person could for example commence on a part-time basis at first, moving to a fulltime position over a transitional period. Remuneration will be commensurate with the seniority of this appointment and will be subject to negotiation. It is intended that a significant part of the remuneration package will be performance related.
Applications for this post should be addressed to the CFE First Vice President by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, to reach her by 7th January 2008 at the latest.
