Screensaver Installation and Set Up Instructions

by Admin at 16:48 02/10/06 (About us)
The CIOT screensaver allows you to keep up to date with the latest headlines as they're posted on the website.

Please note that the screensaver is presently only available for Microsoft Windows.

To install our free screensaver please download the .exe file from the link at the foot of this page, and then follow these instructions:

- Double click the downloaded .exe file to launch it
- Click on 'RUN'
- Click on 'NEXT'
- Click on 'NEXT'
- Once install is complete, click 'OK'

To set our screensaver as your default screensaver please follow the instructions below. These instructions are for Windows XP so if you are using a different version of Windows then the location on your system where you choose the screensaver may be different:

- Go to Start / Control Panel / Appearance / Choose Screensaver
- Select 'ciot_saver' from the list
- Select 'Apply'
- Click on 'OK'

Notes:

1. If you are unable to download the .exe file, there is an alternative .zip archive that also contains the screensaver. To use this instead, download the .zip file and uncompress it before following the instructions above.

2. Your local firewall policy may deny you access to both the .exe and the .zip versions. If you are unable to download either, please consult your local IT administrators for help.

3. Under Windows98 and earlier, the screensaver will only fetch the headlines when it first loads. Post-Windows98, the headines are refreshed every hour.

CIOT Desktop Wallpaper

You can also download an image containing the CIOT owl logo which you can set as your desktop wallpaper.

There are three versions, each suitable for a different screen resolution. It all depends on how you've got your particular system set up, but as a rough guide:

15" monitor: 800 x 600 pixels
17" monitor: 1024 x 768 pixels
19" monitor: 1280 x 1024 pixels

Right-click (control-click on Macs) on the appropriate link to save the image to your local machine and then consult your system's help file for instructions on how to choose it as your desktop wallpaper.
