Severn Valley Branch mainly meets at the Cheltenham Regency Hotel in Cheltenham. The Hotel is ideally situated between Cheltenham and Gloucester, is close to junction 11 of the M5 and short taxi trip away from Cheltenham Station. The Branch serves a large geographical area which includes; Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, South Gloucestershire and North Wiltshire.
The branch runs a programme of CPD events, aiming to cover throughout any year a balance of as many different taxes as possible. As most of our members work in small firms we aim that our courses are practical and cover the basics where relevant before moving onto the more technical aspects.
One of The Branch’s aims is to promote the CIOT and ATT to new members, so we offer all of our events free of charge to students. We also sponsor a prize at the University of Gloucestershire for the graduate that has written the best dissertation on a tax-related subject – Gavin Clissold, above being presented his prize by Chair, Chris Mattos, won the prize this year with his thesis, Can the tax system be fair.
