CIOT look to the Skies with balloons and Boston on the horizon The Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) is launching CTA Day on Tuesday 13 September by releasing 1000 balloons in central London. There will be a variety of events on the day including the opportunity to win a trip to Boston or afternoon tea at the Savoy.

CTA stands for Chartered Tax Adviser and the day is focused on the expertise and clear tax advice CTAs give to their clients. CTA Day is part of the 75th Anniversary of the CIOT.

Peter Kempster, President of the CIOT, says: “CTA Day is very exciting. The range of events across the country reflects the fact that we are a national organisation, representing tax professionals everywhere. The panellists at the debate in London are of top calibre and will offer interesting insights into current arguments about tax and tax policy.”

Across the UK, CIOT branches are holding various events that include local schools competitions, one-day conferences and debates between politicians and tax experts.

The competition first prize is a two-night stay in Boston generously provided by Tourism Massachusetts and the Bulfinch Hotel. The Savoy Hotel has kindly sponsored afternoon “Tea for Two” as second prize. Entries can be made through the CIOT website: www.tax.org.uk/ctaday

As well as that, the CIOT is encouraging people to return the anniversary balloons to find out which one went the furthest. The person who sends back the one that travelled the longest distance will receive a prize.

The London panel debate on Taxation is kindly supported by www.dcode.co.uk and Sweet & Maxwell.
