HMRC’s Digital Disclosure Service - Update

4 Apr 2023

HMRC’s Digital Disclosure Service (DDS) is changing on 6 April 2023. The existing i-Form technology is being migrated to a platform which meets the Government's accessibility requirements. HMRC are also using this opportunity to clarify and simplify the process of making a disclosure, including breaking the 'journey' down into smaller more manageable sections.

On 6 April the existing Start Page on GOV.UK will be replaced with links to the new service which will continue to be accessed by logging in via the Government Gateway. All users will need to use the new service for disclosures after this date. There are no plans to migrate disclosures from the old i-Form system to the new system, meaning that partial disclosures made using the old system and not completed and submitted by 11.59pm on 5 April 2023 will therefore need to be re-entered into the new system.

From 6 April the new service will be in a Public Beta phase. All users will be able to make disclosures throughout Public Beta. The beta phase provides HMRC with an opportunity for real users to use the service and will help the development team uncover any issues before they move the service to their Live Services Team. During the beta phase users will also have the option of helping HMRC through observed research (see below).

Request for volunteers to test the new service

HMRC are looking for volunteers to help ‘user test’ the new service during the public beta phase. If you are about to start a notification or disclosure you can do this while taking part in HMRC’s ongoing research on this service which will give you the opportunity to provide feedback and to help HMRC make further improvements. You will need to book a time slot for using the DDS using the appointment booking tool here - https://calendar.app.google/EvRMt3br6RNoSS8XA -  so that a researcher can join you by video call when using the service. Further instructions will be sent to you by email once you have booked a slot. Time slots are available up until the end of May 2023. Alternatively, if you have already used the new service from 30 March 2023 and have questions about it or feedback, or else have problems with signing up for a time slot, you can contact the lead HMRC researcher at [email protected].
