Affiliate FAQs


A.How much is the annual subscription? £250 which is the same subscription as CIOT members outside of the UK pay.


B.Is there a general view on whether the subscriptions are UK tax deductible? Yes, subscriptions related to membership of professional bodies when it is related to your employment / profession is tax deductable.


C.Does the subscription include getting copies of the handbooks that the CIOT provides to its members each year? Copies are available from the Membership Team. Please contact membership@ciot.org.uk for further details about the availability.


D.Is there an annual CPD requirement? Yes. A CPD form is sent out with the annual subscription renewal notification. The Institute undertakes an annual random CPD check and affiliates must submit their records when requested. Affiliates are strongly advised to update their CPD records regularly and to retain them for a minimum three-year period. CPD forms are available to download from the website.


E.Is the offer to become an affiliate time limited? If I don’t accept it this year, can I do so in future or is there an expiry date? No, the invitation to become an affiliate is not time limited. You can apply whenever you want. But being part of the Institute will only be possible if you become an affiliate.


F.What happens at the ADIT ceremony in November?All ADIT students who successfully completed the qualification, including the award winners, for that year, are invited to the ceremony. Those who attend are awarded a Certificate as an ADIT graduate. Those who do not attend are sent the Certificate in the post. The cost of the ceremony is free to the graduate / affiliate and one guest. Additional guests are welcome, space permitting, at an additional cost.
